Advance Notice of Museum Closure for January 2020

Major refurbishment of the mezzanine area of the museum will be carried out in January 2020. Because of the inevitable disruption involved, the museum will close for Christmas on Sunday 22nd December and will not reopen until the end of January 2020. The exact date of reopening will be announced as soon as it is known.

 

Entrance to the museum is FREE however donations are most welcome as we do NOT receive any government funding.Tyger

You can also help by Feeding our TYGER, when you visit the museum, put a coin in his mouth and he will roar!

 

Museum Shop

We have many items for sale in our shop located in the reception area. These items are constantly being updated. Why not buy a gift or just treat yourself.

Audio Guides

An updated version of the Museum audio guide tour is now available. The guides are free to use and they have touch sensitive screens that play a short commentary when you select one of the images of the tour stops.

Opening Hours

With the help of our volunteers we are able to open 7 days a week including Bank Holidays.

Monday to Friday : 10.30.a.m to 4.30.p.m. Saturday: 10.00.a.m to 4.00.p.m Sunday: 11.30.a.m to 3.30.p.m.

Athelstan Museum - Getting Here

Malmesbury is situated five miles off Junction 17 of the M4 motorway. The museum is located to the rear of the Tourist Information Centre in the Town Hall, by the Cross Hayes short stay car park. There is disabled parking at this end of the car park.

We welcome education groups and other group visits.

Our museum accessible to all. There is a wheelchair lift to the mezzanine floor and a wheelchair is available. Disabled toilets are near by.
