“Belisarius”
The Revd Oliver Ross takes us back to the time of the Gothic wars between the Byzantine Empire and the Ostrogoths with a portrait of Justinian the Great’s great general Belisarius: a man of courage, fortitude and vision, misunderstood by the jealous, loyal in service, skilled in battle, unfortunate in love, who lost a fortune and won an empire at a time when Europe turned at the edge of his sword.
